Wedding Music

Bookings can be for 30 minutes up to 4 hours

Congratulations! Your wedding ceremony is the most important event in your life, and whether you have chosen to have a church wedding or civil wedding/partnership, music is a decisive factor in creating the perfect atmosphere.

However, choosing music to suit your wedding day can be a difficult task. Here in this section we have included a helpful guideline - outlining ideas of suitable and traditional music in the order of the service taken from our experience. You can rest assured the music we play will be tailored for your special day – especially if you have any particular favourites.

Flute Guitar Duo can also provide a highly professional consultation service free of charge and will offer you invaluable advice on personalising your music by email or phone, making the ceremony even more meaningful for you both.

Music for your ceremony can be divided into four intervals:

  1. The Prelude (guests arriving)
  2. The Processional (arrival of the bride)
  3. Signing of the Register
  4. The Recessional (exit)

+ADDITIONAL SERVICE

  • The Postlude (drinks reception and photography)
  • Music at the Wedding breakfast.

**Please note however that any music which might be considered 'religious' by the registrar may not be used during a civil ceremony – we will advise accordingly during the consultation process.

 HELPFUL GUIDELINES:

We will play for approximately 20 minutes before the ceremony as your guests arrive at the venue, to provide a welcoming atmosphere. Examples:

  • Plasir d’Armour         (Traditional)
  • Chanson de Matin     (Elgar)

Entrance of the Bride  - the Processional - Elegant and Stately, but also Happy

For this section the highlight is when the bride walks in and a piece which can easily be brought to a musically satisfying conclusion within a few seconds of the bride finishing her entrance is required.

  • Bridal March from Lohengrin     (Wagner)
  • Pachelbel's Canon                         (J. Pachelbel)
  • Air for the G string                      (Bach)
  • Air from the Water Music            (Handel)
  • Hornpipe from the Water Music  (Handel)

Signing of the Register   the ceremony

Music for the signing of the register is a personal matter, you can have a favourite song of your choice, and if it is not in our repertoire, please ask.

  • Heaven (Pop)
  • Greensleeves (Traditional)

Exit of Bride and Groom    the recessional    Joyful and Positive -

Now the Bride and Groom leaves the venue on a high note here is a selection of positive, bright and strikingly tuneful pieces. We play on until everyone has left the venue. Examples:

  • The flower Duet                   (Delibes)
  • Minuet (From the Notebook of Anna Magdalena Bach)(J.S Bach )
  • Wedding March (From Midsummer Night’s Dream) (F.Medelssohn)

Postlude  - Photography, drinks.

Music of popular classics.

We continue to play for approximately an hour to entertain the guests while they collect drinks, and wait to be photographed with the Bride and Groom.  Music also keeps children entertained too; they tend to dance around us and ask us to play their particular favourites too!
